Like in the subheading, Linus does not recommend it. I would agree that once you start doing the intermediate to advanced tasks in Linux, you will probably want to use KDE. For beginners, it is a good place to begin. The interface is clean and simple.

I feel that it would be a great environment for a home user that is tired of MS Windows. I would also limit that to someone who does things like documents, spreadsheets, email, & web browsing. Basically a group of people like my parents. It would be a great test to put my mom on an Ubuntu installation & see how it goes for a month. I may try it if she breaks her XP installation. I suppose I better quit maintaining it when I go to visit :lol:
